After my old bike retired at the age of 15-ish, I had to take my new one out for a long stroll.
Sometimes we are so preoccupied with finding new places far away that we forget to discover what is directly under our noses.
This bike path can be followed through town (I use it to get to work) or through the “woods”.
In the woods section, there are absolutely no toilets except at some of the parking areas. Come prepared!

Urban Bike Path – Blue Section

In these past years, the city worked really hard to make these safe. There are only a couple of places where the path cuts on big boulevards (like next to my house) but there is always a way of either going on the side-walks or through store parkings

(we’re not in Montreal here, stores actually have parking for their customers… try to wrap your head around that)

TransTerrebonne West and North – Purple section

In this section, the roads are mostly earth and you go through the woods. It’s very peaceful, except around Sobeys HQ… but that only lasts a couple of minutes… after you’re back in the woods.

There are many Halte Cycliste along your path where you can sit on stone benches and park your bike. There isn’t much there but it’s nice to sit on something else 🙂

TransTerrebonne Expert – Red section

We started the trail at the parking at the end of this path. There is a little park there with bridges that go through a swamp.
Once you get on this path, you wish you had stayed in the swamp!

Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun as hell!

Your first obstacle is 4 big up-an-down hills. Get as much acceleration as you can to go up.

After this, there is something I never saw before on a bike path : Stairs!
These stairs have a ramp on each side for you to push your bike up. Unless you are 6’5”, you’re gonna sweat!

After these crazy obstacles, it gets easier. Once we got to a fork, we took the Purple Path to go further. The rest of the red path is still a mystery to me 🙂

Conclusion

This summer, I plan on taking my friends and family on this path. Don’t forget to hit the information center in your city. You might discover beautiful places and activities that our right outside your door.

Happy Biking
