About
Welcome to my home on the internet!
Here you will find guides to the trails that I went on as well as general information about hiking.
In 2009-2010, I went on a trip to Japan where I was lucky to make friends with people who brought me on a hike up Mount Ontake, Japan’s second highest volcano.
I had never hiked before in my life….
After that, I never wanted to stop!
When I got back, I was instantly called by the mountains in the Adirondacks and Quebec. The first year, I hadn’t started this blog.
We would have long conversations about “did we do this”, “no we did that”, “you sure”… “no”.
So I started the blog!
I categorized all of my hikes by region and used the tags for more specific information.
Over the years, we have had amazing experiences as well as those that would be the plot of a bad horror movie. Nevertheless, we always returned home a little wiser.
Don’t hesitate to leave a comment if ever you need more information about some of our posts.

P.S. My first attempt at a blog was in Japan. Once I found what I was searching for, I stopped blogging. Odd, that’s usually when you start…
My family and I are contemplating a hike up Mt. Washington, in early June of next year. I did not see the Jewell Trail on your website. From what I’ve read, that seems to be the easiest trail for novices like us (plus we’ll range in age from 75 to 19). Can you confirm that the Jewell Trail is the best for beginners or do you have another suggestion. Thank you for your attention to this inquiry. Je vous remerci infiniment d’un gens de la Caroline du Nord. Anciemment d’Asbestos, Quebec.
Hi Joseph,
Sorry about the delay in communications. I hope you get this message…
You’re the first real person to comment on my blog so I’m really happy to get your message 🙂
As for Mount Washington, I don’t think that any of the trails can be considered “easy”. I haven’t headed up to Jewell yet. It’s in our plans for this summer as well (I’ll post about Lake of the clouds when I get there). Jewell is longer in distance than Tuckerman’s Ravine but it has less elevation.
The most important is to gauge your health and stamina. Before heading out to Washington, try some hikes in the woods and mountains in your region. Test yourself and see if you are able to do these. If you can’t make it up a less intense mountain, you still have some preparations to do before heading to Mt washington.
It’s a big and rewarding challenge. It should take over 6 hours to hike up, so be prepared. It takes determination, stamina and a good pair of broken in hiking boots.

There is definetly somebody there who has done the Jewell trail!
I passed through Asbestos on my way to Mont Ham, a new regional park in the area. Be sure to check it out if ever you go back.
